You can Download Youtube videos without any software.
1. Copy the url of the youtube video e.g. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZrr7AZ9nCY
2. Go to www.keepvid.com and paste the url in the green box and click download.
3. they will give you the download link. download it and rename the extention of Downloaded file (get_video) to ".FLV" (flash video)
use VLC media player or Media player classic to play.

You can use "NetTransport" (also known as "NetXFer") to download video Streams.
But it is not free. you'll need a crack.

There is another easy way of doing this! Shali taught me this though i use a Firefox Extension!
*Step one
Go to the URL
eg:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZrr7AZ9nCY
*Step two
Add "kiss" before youtube
your link should look like this now
http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=CZrr7AZ9nCY
*Step three
Download the file!
