.mkv Hmmm No Idea!!! Try Renaming It To Some Other Format! Like .avi etc

Vista codec pack is for Vista only :D
You may try K-Lite Codec Pack. Install only the required codec otherwise it will lead to bigger problems that what you've already got. :D
