Sri Lanka notched-up a crucial win over hosts Bangladesh in the 11th South Asian Games Twenty20 Cricket when they recorded an interesting 18-runs victory at the Shaheed Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Tuesday 02 February 2010.

Medium pacer Ishan Jayaratne played a key role in his team’s triumph by snapping three wickets for 30 runs in four overs including the scalp of top-scorer Anamul Haque and Asif Ahmed.

Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka raced to 165 for the loss of six wickets in their stipulated overs.

Opener Dinesh Chandimal hit four 4s and hoisted one sixer in 24 balls knock 34. Ashan Priyanjan made 25 in 23 deliveries with three boundaries and, Dilshan Munaweera blasted five boundaries in 17-ball cameo of 24.

Thisara Perera banged three massive 6s in his 21 after facing mere eight balls and Angelo Perera finished 20 not out off 16 balls that included two boundaries.

Bangladesh in reply was bowled out for 147 in 19.5 overs despite solid knock of 42 in 40 balls with two 4s and one six. Nasir Hossain struck powerful 28 in 21 balls with five sizzling boundaries but that failed to save his team from defeat.

This Sri Lanka ’s second win the five team contest after they beat Nepal 103 runs.

Umar Amin led Pakistan will now take on Nepal in their next match after beating cricket minnows Maldives in the opening match by ten wickets. India is absent in the event.
