Janaka Hemantha Kumara won gold for Sri Lanka in cycling at the South Asian Games here yesterday.
He timed four hours, 48 minutes and 34 seconds in the 170 kilo metre race while India and Pakistan settled for the silver and bronze respectively.
The performance of the cyclists was however disappointing as they finished the games with just one gold in comparison to five won at the 2006 Colombo Games.
Another rider C. P. Meemanage finished fifth while Dane Nugera and Suwaris Premachandra crashed out of the race.
Meanwhile Dilhani Wijeratne won a silver while H. A. M. Milan won the bronze in weightlifting in the 63 kgs and 60 kgs categories.
