Mini Infotel Jaffna Exhibition and ICT Skills Development Programme for the Northern Youth. :love::love::love:
The exhibition organised by Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) in collaboration with ICTA will be held from 26th to 28th instant at Vembady Girls' High School in Jaffna.
Economy in the North and East as in most of the remaining coastal parts of Sri Lanka had been traditionally built around agriculture and fisheries. But with the end of the war and the arrival of the digital era another catalyst of growth has been recognised as ideal to go parallel with the two major livelihoods. This parallel catalyst of growth is none other than ICT.
Elaboration on the exhibition FITIS sources say: "FITIS proposes to build the north and east new economy around ICT and make Jaffna the Bangalore of Sri Lanka. Jaffna has the potential to make it a reality as the people of the north are hungry for education and knowledge after decades of war and have strong credentials of intelligence, hard work, dedication and commitment".
Referring to the ICT career guidance which will be one of the highlights of the exhibition ICTA sources said: "ICT career guidance has a great role to play in bringing the dividends of ICT to all the people of Sri Lanka. Judging from the experience in career guidance programmes held in Colombo, Galle, Matara, Kandy and Kurunegala, Anuradhapura etc. it is certain that the ICT career guidance provided parallel to the Infotel exhibition in Jaffna will be one of the greatest attractions especially to the youths their parents and teachers".
"The Exhibition will provide an opportunity for technology vendors and innovators to showcase their technologies and engage northern business entrepreneurs in the fast developing ICT industry", FITIS sources emphasised referring to the importance of the exhibition to the business community.
