View Full Version : New Zealnd Tour for Trinitians
Mainly through the efforts of Nigel Krone, with his Rugby connections in New Zealand and as Head Coach of Trinity, the Principal of Trinity Rod Gilbert has sanctioned a 'Rugby Excursion' to Auckland, New Zealand, in collaboration with the Old Boy's Association in Auckland, headed by A.J. "Josh" Joseph, who will cater to the needs of the team.
Trinity will despatch a 'Development Squad' which will include the best players selected from those under 16 and under 18, to fly over to Auckland on the 28th of September. They will spend 10 days in Auckland, during which time they will attend two Coaching Clinics, witness two matches 'Live' at the well-known Eden park and will play two matches against two New Zealand school teams.
Incidentally, Eden Park is a popular venue for International Cricket and Rugby. It is equipped with a unique system of lifting up the special turf which is laid out for the Cricket season and replaced by another suitable turf enabling Rugby to be played on the same grounds, in two different seasons. It is an 'All-purpose' grass which is estimated to be worth 4 million New Zealand Dollars!
It has been decided to pick the best players from this year's Trinity Team to form a "Sevens Squad", which will participate in the popular Rugby Tournament "Dubai Sevens", due to be staged in Dubai later this year, in November. This would give the opportunity to the senior players who are not selected for the 'Development Squad' visiting New Zealand.
Nigel Krone has been instrumental in 'uplifting' the brand of Rugby played by Trinity and has contributed largely to the success of the players and the school, in these two years. It is with great joy and pleasure that he has agreed to coach Trinity once again next year.

they r not doing this 2 show off dude........they r doing dis 2 take the game 2 a new level............nigel krone wouldn't take the team 2 nz along wit him if the tour is useless & he'l let 'em play in ko's, cos he's da sl's only coach at any level recomended by the irb.......even he's leaving 4 uk this month 4 the irb coching clinic, along wit him jonah lomu, umanga, gregan r also participating in that clinic....

ya its apriciate bro, U know Royal 1st XV teams also tured in Engalnd after win the Brabdy in 1998 n 2002 in Australia due to performence in the perticuler season. but the thing is wuz da point of get partictipate da u-14 team, daz da question..:yes:

toured not only da u:14's man, they formed a developement squad & toured.....i dont hv 2 tell u how strong were the royal's 1st xv side during those years u mentioned.....especially in 2002 (zulky's year).... our main objective should be qualify 4 da rugby world cup within next 10 yrs time....... so wat they did was rite by givin da opertunity 2 da next generation's players........
but i know all da rugby playing schools in sl cant afford 2 tour like dis (which is unfair), but skools which could do dat go 4 it, then when these teams cms unbeatable,there's a tendancy of other skool;s also going 4 it.....& im sure that'll make hell lot of diff...

hell true man.......slrfu should take all da neccesary steps 2 get us participate in the rugby world cup......its not a hard task 2 achieve, cos v only have 2 come up 10 or 12 spots in the rankings.......væll wait and c how fast our rugby will grow and lets hope we ll b able 2 play in 2011 rwc....
