Oct 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy destroyed another suspected LTTE arms ship today in the Indian ocean off southern Sri Lanka, defense officials said.
Defense officials said the suspected rebel ship carrying arms was destroyed at about 850 nautical miles southeast off the southern coastal tip of the country, Dondra Head early this morning. Officials believe about 12 Tigers on board were killed during the attack.
“Sri Lanka Naval task group comprising Off Shore Patrol vessels "SLNS Sayura", "SLNS Sagara", Fast Attack Vessel "SLNS Suranimila" and Rendezvous vessel 521 were engaged in the Naval elite operation,” the Defense Ministry said.

The successes in the seas are credited to the enhanced naval intelligence activities by the present Navy command. Defense officials say that the rebels are facing a severe arms shortage now due to the successful naval attacks.
