Just look at the box of the CPU
It should have the correct name printed on the box.

I don't think they let you open three CPU packagings just to see the model number printed on the heatspreader of the CPU :D

You are right guy. I am asking technically how they can be distinguished. ( I.e. clock speed, cores, cache and other significant deferences)

* But there are many architectural changes.

* Bottom line is, Core 2 Duo is about 2 times as fast as a Pentium D at the same clock speed (eg: 3GHz vs 3GHz) or same speed as a Pentium D at half the clock speed (eg: 1.5GHz vs 3GHz), half the power consumption (eg: 65W vs. 130W for the top of the line models) and runs cooler because of it.

ya.The dumba**es over @ Mitech didnt knew what is E6550.When I described the specs they say they hav one.I didnt got it coz they had the box in stores and I only get to see the CPU after I purchased it.:P The fool even said there is only one CPU with the specs u said.(C2D,2.33GHz,4M,1333FSB)Then I said there is E 6540 without TXT.Fool called and said back that the CPU no is E2180 :P :P :D.I brought the CPU from Barclays for 23150 after seeing the CPU for real.

Quads got in to high 30s this week.With the large stock at barclays touching the seiling and PC house gonna fight back we will soon see a price dropping.Also the Nunet shipping is arriving in two weeks and EPSI gonna order E 6320/6420 soon after their stock finished.Wait but not after budget.

In LK ppl dont need taxes to increase the price.Just the budget,fuel,copper,anythin almost touchin will do.
Yeah Q6600.I get it for 36k so that means you get it for like 38k.Sad part is actual price is like 78% of it.But its ok considering the past.RAMs are dirty cheap these days like Paris Hilton.I even get KVR with life for 3200 Rs.Barclays got the cheapest in Colombo for 4k with 3 years or 5years with life.Patriot and Corsair value are still 1~2k ahead.

So how or where you get it for 36k? Anyway SL still need to create good market prices for VGA. RAM, CPU comparably cheaper according to US prices. But VGA no where near.

the 6540 has no Trusted Execution technology as well as VPro technology. these Processors and intended to compete with AMD's Stars processor line... so Intel had to make the 6540.. without a couple of techs the 6540 is in the same price range as AMD'S counterparts

I knw the dealers.I get at dealer prices.:P AFAIK Nunet is the most reasonable in LK.Foxconn 8500GT 512MB GDDR2 for 12.5k with 3 years warranty is really reasonable.And a G33M is for 13k is really good.And we can order MARS too.
