Ameen Izzadeen -- a Sri Lankan journalist based in Colombo says
But I would not call the capture of the east a military success for the government. It is a tactical withdrawal by the Tigers. In a game of checkers, you deliberately allow a piece or two of yours to be cut by your opponent with the aim of cutting several of his pieces and finally win the game. The Tigers’ withdrawal from the east or their decision to lie low is a strategic move which placed a heavy burden on the security forces to protect the recaptured or liberated territory.
So does he indirectly means that LTTE will win the WAR?
Here's the FULL Article.. Read it (http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayArticleNew.asp?xfile=data/opinion/2007/October/opinion_October101.xml§ion=opinion&col=)
He writes FULL of positive thoughts for LTTE while sitting in his comfortable office in COLOMBO!!!

When SL forces withdrew Elephant pass battle camp, the media said that it is a lost.
Now these kinda crappy journalists are talking for the LTEE and trying to show their lost as a tactical move... huh...
Should get rid of those shitty people... seriously! :@

The funny thing is he says:
A week or two before the attack, I overheard someone saying that a Tamil barber from the north was angry with the Tigers not because they were facing defeat after defeat, but because he believed that the Tigers had betrayed the Tamil cause by taking bribes from the Mahinda Rajapaksa administration. “It seems that war is a big business for both government and LTTE leaders,” he said. The attack on airbase sent a message to the disappointed sympathisers of the Tigers that the LTTE’s struggle is very much on course, bribe or no bribe.
For one thing this may well be what he is thinking... on the other hand this really proves how unprofessional he is when reporting a situation by NOT giving the FACTS.. just relying on "he says / she says" method!!!

Well..could be right.. because ltte are very clever with thier strategies. that i spoke to a tamil guy who was a ltte member years ago, who said.. ltte normally have a very good record of saving thier resources of men & weapons...and they have a highly influential and accurate intelligence cadres, who asses the risks of attacking a target at the same time asses the risks of being attacked,so if they think facing a grand number of forces at front with the nonstop multibarrel guns and air raids at the battlefront, they tend to go on a defensive mode.let the army in, then send assault teams in between and attack the moved in soldiers.. also thier idea is to cause massive losses for the security forces with a minimum looses for themselves, also the fighters not told where they are being taken to fight etc due to security reasons...& none of them know where abouts of prabaharan's bases/ammunition dumps etc..
the eastern srilanka seen as not a very safe areas to do coventional war, and because of the karuna problems also they went on to a defence mode,
karuna helped the govt at that time to capture the east area, and the mainstream tigers lost a bit of control of cadres due to number of them gone with karuna therefore it was proved to be a tactical withdrawal. but the guerilla units still remain and they are going to be really testing times ahead for the forces.
coming back to the article written by the guy.. thats his job..
like any other news reporters they will have to write what is seen as right, i dont blame them...
we should not condemn them because the article wasnt in our interest though..

But the bigger setback was the absence of any condemnation from the international community. It may because the Tigers targeted a military facility. But the silence is also tantamount to a tacit approval of the Tigers’ military action against a state which has miserably failed in presenting a meaningful and effective political solution to the Tamil problem. The silence of the international community is certainly a sign of its disappointment with the government’s lack of progress on the political front.
above is very true..
again we are looking like laughing stocks to the world...badddddd

Well.. LTTE better be resourceful because of the amount of resources that they have... And we are NOT talking about the LTTE's strategies here, although LTTE has got their own strategies and Army has got their own...
I accept that LTTE has had success completing their mission, given the nature of their attacking methods, because these LTTE cadres are NOT expected to return to their base and why such a valiant effort? Because SL Air Force has been a menace for them.... that also proves SL got their tactics correct as well....
Lets focus on the article... my allegiance lies with my country that's another issue.. So like you said you maybe a neutral person.. so read his article again and tell me if its NOT bias towards LTTE, and how do you feel about his comments based on "He says / She says stories"? Do you believe that's professional journalism?
Then what's the difference between a normal person submitting a story and a journalist submitting a story? Even I can say "Oh I heard a Tamil fellow say, Prabakaran is dead!!"
The article wasn't in my full interest that's true!! But he's NOT talking FACTS either so that's what I'm trying to point out!!!
So in summary... my questions for you would be
1. Do you believe it is in the CORE values of Journalists to be bias when reporting?
2. With regard to this article, regardless of you are a ANTI LTTE or PRO LTTE.. can you trust his method of "hear say"?
That's all.....
