Chennai (PTI): The MDMK, an ally of the AIADMK which has adopted a tough posture against the banned LTTE, on Sunday said it would defy a police prohibitory order and participate in Monday's rally here, organised by a pro-Tamil Eelam outfit, to mourn the death of LTTE leader S P Tamilselvan.
In a statement here, MDMK chief Vaiko alleged that the Centre continued to "betray" Sri Lankan Tamils by supplying radars and weapons to the Lankan Government.
Accusing the Manmohan Singh Government of siding with the Sri Lankan Government which had indulged in "mass killing" of Tamils,he said the parties,which were constituents in the UPA Government, particularly the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, should be held responsible for the "betrayal" of Tamils on the Eelam issue.
Though the police had denied permission for the rally, organised by Coordination Committee of Supporters of Tamil Eelam Liberation, the MDMK would take part in it, Vaiko said and appealed to party workers to assemble in large numbers at the venue.
