Ok, I was pissed about the Firefox 2.0 RAM usage and JavaScript chaos, so I installed Firefox 3 finally. With the help of this tool (http://prometheusxt.blogspot.com/2007/12/get-your-incompatible-firefox-addons.html), I managed to install (or rather, unlock) all my addons (80% of them were incompatible).

so, this is the time to put Firefox 3 to the ultimate test.

I loaded up tabs; lots of them; kept for about couple of hours.

These are the tabs which were open: (~35 tabs)

Here's the memory usage from the task manager: (note that I don't use a pagefile, so Firefox's memory manager has to do a lot of things to clear up the unused RAM. If a pagefile was there, the Operating System would have taken care of part of that process)

MUCH MUCH BETTER PERFORMANCE!!! NO SLOW DOWNS WITH ALL THOSE TABS!!! SIMPLY AWESOME!!!

Hell yeah!!! And it hasn't slowed down...not even a bit. I all those 35+ tabs open, I can browse without even feeling that the browser is pushed to the limits. Just awesome. We only need the app/addon compatibility.

Ah there is a slight problem with that.
You need to export the bookmarks from the backups inside your firefox profile.
Eg: From here:
%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Prof iles\xxxxxxxxx.default\bookmarkbackups
and select the latest one.

Remember you people use a pagefile. With a pagefile, memory usage is lower.

I didn't say everytime! It happens once in a while, when Firefox really screws things up :P
