Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe was named LMD's Sri Lankan of the Year at its awards ceremony on Sunday (December 2).
Rajapakshe as COPE chairman has exposed alleged corruption at high places.
Other award winners were: Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) as LMD's Leading Listed Company, John Keells Holdings (JKH) as LMD's Most Respected Entity and pace bowler Lasith Malinga as LMD's 2007 Personality of the Year.
Meanwhile, in second place among LMD's 10 Most Respected Entities was Dialog Telekom, Hayleys (3rd), MAS Holdings (4th), Commercial Bank (5th), Ceylinco Consolidated (6th), Aitken Spence (7th), Unilever (8th), HSBC (9th) and Brandix (10th).
Other Placings in LMD's Leading Listed Companies:- In second place: JKH, Lanka Indian Oil Company (3rd), Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka (4th), Hayleys (5th), Dialog (6th), Commercial Bank (7th), Hatton National Bank (8th), Aitken Spence (9th) and Millers (10th).
Among the other front runners for the "Living Personality 2007" award were: Bhatiya & Santhush, Model of the World Nadeeka Perera and Child Actress Sarala Kariyawasam.
