Seagate I suppose. But it really depends on,
1. luck
2. how gentle you use the hard disk (i.e. hard disk are not meant to be moved!!!)
3. how good your power supply unit is (i.e. how "clean" the 5V/12V voltages are...and how stable they are)
4. the operating temperature... (i.e. lower the better)
adding a cooling fan helps...it lowered my HDD's temp by 10C!!! i was amazed.. (temps were read from SMART)
Quantum was the BEST one.. but i think some other company took it and now its going in another name.. Maxtor or like that.. not sure the name

Maxtor bought Quantum, Seagate bought Maxtor
Now we see how Seagate increases its market share, eh? :P

Yes that is correct. I have added a Heatsink addition to the cooling Fan. Now my HDD is real cool.

Seagate is the best,Quantum Fireball was also good, but IMHO I HATE MAXTOR,though i have my very old Seagate HDDs yet i lost my valuable data on 2 Maxtor 40GB HDDs earlier,
So i burn all stuff to DVDs for backup(Now i have about ~150discs)
But I found hard to find a new Seagate HDD,so now i also have Hitachi 250GB on file server

There was a time when Maxtor was very unreliable. That's not there anymore. Also, Maxtor is not inspired by Seagate's technology and experience, as Seagate bought Maxtor last year or so.

awww HDDS.I love em.I have like 30 burnt down HDDs at home.:D :P :P
mm I think the Seagates are best.WD comes in 2nd for me.I have lots of Diamond max8/9 Maxtors lying around as those were burnt down a lot .:S
Quantums are good but quatum copied maxtors sux.New Maxtors are good too with seagate.
Mainly It depends on luck how HDDs perform. My 40 GB maxtor which I got with lifetime warranty (I sold it :S) still runs really well,Have travelled to many places on bikes, have more than 7000 hours to account but still dont make a single noise.Damn me I sold it :S :S But the Hitachi SATAII 250 GiB Which I only got from CMB to home Had a cooler with two baller bearing fans for its safe and always kept under 37C,never moved -It died after 10 months.:P :P So Its kinda luck with HDDS.And Damn hitachis have a damn noise when it starts so always I get a herat attack when the PC boots.:S Will never have a Hitachi again. And I'm afraid we will see either.Hitachi GST went on some agreement with Samsung for HDDs dont know what will the future be.Oh just one, they are going to release 1.5 TB HDD in the 2Q,2008. :D
Cooling is good for HDDs as anything.
