President is responsible! The slogan of the funeral march of MP Maheswaran

(Lanka-e-News, 2008 Jan 03, 11.00 PM) The funeral ceremony of the slain UNP MP T. Maheswaran was held today (03) at Borella cemetery amidst large crowds.

Four hours were spent for the funeral march that left the MP’s house of Wellawaththa around 2.30 PM to reach to Borella cemetery. Around 10,000 people including UNP MPs and civil and political organization representatives joined the march.

The marchers wore black strips and carried placards that said, 'President is responsible'. While the UNP response was lukewarm, the civil organizations took part in the march with enthusiasm.

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe, SLFP - People's Wing Convener Mangala Samaraweera, Rafuf Hakeem, Chairman of Prayathna People's Movement Dr. Kumar Rupasinghe and Sunanda Deshapriya of Free Media Movement were among those who addressed the funeral ceremony.

Owu raajya naayakayonta dena eka eyaage wadak thamai... But Raajya = Government. and UNP is only the opposition. So I really don't see why should MR give security for UNP people...?
