I have a crossover cable and i need to network my 2 computers (desktop and laptop) both running windows 7 x64. I'd be grateful if someone can guide me step by step to set up the connection.:)

I have put "WORKGROUP" as the workgroup in both PCs system settings if that's what u r askin mate. Goin to test n c now. Thanx for the help. I'll reply with the results

Now how do i see the other computer files from one computer? I've turned sharing on in 2 drives on my desktop now. Do i have to map network drives or something?

Go to My Computer
Type In Address Bar //<IP Address> then pres ENTER
