To my knowledge the Sri Lankan Videos is getting F**** up these days..

ppl are using too much of Graphics. Ex : Natamu , Dark Angel .. stuff like that

but i prefer if they can do it in SL Flavor..

but giving ideas only we can do.. they have to think and do it..

Good to see some revolution in the music industry in SL.
I'm not saying it's bad to have graphics in Sri Lankan music videos.
But I think they are not using in the right way.

Therefore they don't look professional like in some good International music videos. When we see the SL music videos we feel like "over dose" of graphics as they still in the beginning stage.

But then again I heard Centigradz music video is done with very low budget.
We need more money and professionals flowing into the SL music industry to have some awesome videos.

Money can bring some good models into some videos. Our eyes can have some rest from seeing Nadeesha, Rochelle, Sachini and Anarkali lol....

i think they shld do an open call for girls to audition for music videos - i mean they dont necessarily have to be models right - there are loads of gorgeous girls in Lanka who aren't models right? so mayb with something like tht we'd be making sure tht we see some different faces in the music vidoes instead of the same girls all the time! :D

Well... talkin about hot chicks in SL :D, it's like SL have had an instant boost. When I got there last time (after being away for abt 1 year), I realized that the country is FULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of hot chicks, i didn't even wanna come back here :(..... I'm not sure whether it's natural beauty or just make up. But whatever it is, nowadays, SL girls are pretty, flamboyant and off the hook ;)

Problems we have in SL when making music videos.

1. Budget constrain

2. Lack of proper planning
- Never search for professionals (directors/editors) who can do music videos
- Never search for suitable models
- Never have a proper plan / story board / VFX Plan

3. Too many people influence a single production ( too many cooks )

4. Monopoly in the music industry by certain groups, music companies etc..

Sri Lankan modelling industry is not been developed properly like in India even though we have potential talents.

Guys, we have enough and more good looking girls in Sri Lanka. You may say most of them are conservative. However a good number of them are interested in modelling.

We don't have a proper modelling school. Then there is no accessible model data base available for music video producer. As far as I know only advertising companies have a cartian amonut of information on models.

Music producers never advertise and look for talents. Everything works on a "word of month". The development will be slow until someone breaks this culture.

Some important notes

1. The so called top models in SL charges around Rs 25 000 - Rs 35 000 per music video.

2. New faces ( a model who was in Dark Angel ) are paid only upto Rs 5 000

3. Recently some music videos were funded upto Rs 800 000

4. In SL a cost effective director would spend Rs 100 000 per day this includes Cranes, Jib Arm, Tracks and Dollies.

5. Some music video directors show off in the location with a big crew and heavy equipments but the end result will be crappy.

6. So called big shots in the Sri Lankan music scene truly make good music which can really compete with international hip hop, Rap and RnB. However it's sad that they think the music videos they make are excellent.




All we need is some new music producers who can put a full stop to the monopoly in the Sri Lankan music industry.

There are loads of energetic youngsters waiting outside to render their talents who were never been given a chance.
