need help abt combo drive!! (urgent!)

guys i need sum help!!!

ive got a samsung combo drive which was bought around 3 yrs back.

nw frm recent times da drive doesnt seem to work.
its not dat it doesnt fully work but doesnt work on sum CD's.

i tried da Ubuntu CD and it works and sum other orginal CD's and they work. but then if i put a normal CD or DVD it doesnt read.

do u guys know wat da problem is and how to solve it??

My Samsung DVD writer has the same problem. I think it's something wrong with Samsung.

well guys its the laws of the nature Nothing lasts for ever..combo drives use the same laser optics mechanism to read DvD and write DC's and its prone to degrade after some time....ur drive has reached its life time...u can try to clean the lense but im not sure it will work
