My overclocking woes in the past couple of days finally made me satisfy a mediocre 50% (:P) overclock! So I'm at 2.8GHz now :(
And you know what? It was not the CPU! It was either the RAM or the mobo or both.
Well, if there is so much headroom in the CPU, and if I can't exploting it in the form of overclocking more, why not lower the Vcore to make it run cooler? That's exactly what I did.
The default Vcore for the CPU is 1.325V. I lowered it to 1.2375V which is a big deal, and I was happy when it ran Prime95 Small FFT test (i.e. the CPU stress test) for 15hours! w00t! (BTW, there is a heavy Vdroop on this mobo and CPU shows 1.192V at idle and 1.168V at full load)

I tried 1.225V which is the lowest the BIOS would allow me to go, and it failed Prime after few hours. I wasn't upset, because I would be more upset if I found out that the CPU could go further down on Vcore when the mobo wouldn't allow me to :lol:
