AMD’s long awaited 65nm Brisbane core products are just around the corner. DailyTech previously reported that Brisbane is expected to launch in December. AMD’s latest roadmap shows Brisbane 65nm products will arrive as scheduled. Brisbane will be AMD’s first 65nm core and is expected to launch with four parts. The four 65nm Brisbane core based products include the Athlon 64 X2 5000+, 4800+, 4400+ and 3800+. All four models will have 2x512KB of L2 cache and a 65W TDP rating.

My thoughts about it....

We will not see any performance improvements with this new chips than the current processors from AMD. The initial benefits of moving to an improved production process are die shrinks which will lower the manufacturing costs (and cheaper CPUs than the current ones) and better thermal efficiency. Both are good for people in Sri Lanka.

However, this is a much needed transition from 90nm manufacturing process for the upcoming K8L CPUs from AMD. Maybe it would also help the CPU + GPU hybrid CPU called "Fusion". What I'm looking forward to is the latter one. You know, a Radeon 1900XTX card has a raw processing power (measure in Giga Floating Point Operations per Second) of up to 30-150 times the power of the highest end Core 2 Duo CPU. With the hybrid CPUs, we might see amazing performance boosts.
