Environment and Natural Resources Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said March 18 that the Venerable Ellawala Medhananda Thero was the 'Third Eye' that was re-awakening the Sinhala Nation. The Minister paid this tribute at the launch of two Sinhala books published by Dayawansa Jayakody Book Publishers at the BMICH, Colombo.
One book is on the Sinhala Buddhist Heritage of the Eastern Province (Third Edition). The other is 'Sinhala Urumaye Ran Asipatha' (Golden Sword of Sinhala Heritage) - the biography of the Venerable Ellawala Medhananda Thero, Scholar on Sri Lanka's Sinhala heritage.
Well-known Scholar J.R.P. Suriyapperuma who delivered the keynote address called the Venerable Thera an unofficial Sangharaja. Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara, Highways Development Minister Jeyeraj Fernandopulle and Ven.Athuraliye Rathana Thero also spoke. Basil Rajapaksa MP, Hemakumara Nanakakkara MP were also participated.
The Publisher Dayawansa Jayakody ceremonially presented the copies of the books to the Venerable Medhananda Thero.
