The agreement entered into with the Emirates Airlines will terminate on the 31st of this month. Accordingly, the government has taken measures to launch the air service under a new management with effect from April 1st. The activities will begin with the chanting of pirith on 31st night. Sri Lankan Airlines passengers, who leave from the Katunayake International Airport on the 1st of April, will be served with milk rice and sweetmeats. All foreign offices of the Sri Lankan Airlines will also provide this treat.:lol: :lol: Minister Chamal Rajapakse has issued guidelines to the new management to promptly address issues related to salaries and promotions of the staff of Sri Lankan Airlines. Government has already decided to grant concessions to senior Sri Lankan citizens domiciled abroad when returning to the island in Sri Lankan Airline flights. Even citizens who leave the country to meet their children in other countries will enjoy this same privilege. Parliamentarians and government officials are advised to use the government air service as far as possible. President Rajapakse is due to address employees of Sri Lankan Airlines on 3rd of April.

Meanwhile a new Chairman and Board of Directors have been appointed to Sri Lankan Airlines. Dr. P.B. Jayasundera is the new Chairman. Nishantha Wickremesinghe, Lalith de Silva and Sunil Wijesinghe are board members.
