i highly believe that the heat sink is not properly fixed to the CPU.
I believe that the LGA 775 chip u have... There is a greater chance that the sink is not properly fixed or the fan isnt working properly or there is a thick dust layer covering the heat sink fins. Put a reply stating which one it is...

Hey,
Download a tool like Speedfan or Everest and check for the temperature. BIOS or the software that comes with the mobo can be reading wrong.
If the temps are really wrong, try and reseat the HSF.
If you removed the HSF before this overheating occurred, maybe the contact is bad. Did u use a thermal paste?

Are you using a thermal compound between the CPU and the Heatsink?
If this overheating happened momentarily after removing the heatsink (for cleaning maybe..u know), you might need to clean up the underneath of the heatsink and the CPU heatspreader (ideally with high density ethyl alcohol) with a lint-free cloth, and apply a fresh layer of thermal compound. The cheap white paste you find here is better than not having any.

Really? Then there is a serious issue!
Maybe there heatsink and/or the CPU is bad. I mean, Intel is known to make concave heatspreaders on the CPU and not mirror flat heatsink surfaces and maybe there isn't enough contact to transfer the heat properly onto the heatsink from the CPU :S

ane ban 100 C and over yanawa kiyanne boiling point reach wela....obviously it should damage the surrounding components as well. Have you tried placing your fingers close to the CPU when its around 100C?? Not saying to touch the damn thing....... Just placing your fingers to get the hotness in the surroundings close to the cpu.... If its not that hot then its not the CPU..... working at a temp. of 100 C should definitely burn the cpu and the components around the CPU..... on the other hand you shouldn't be able to work on the machine either.... It should not get ON in the 1st place or should get stuck after a few (5-10) seconds.....
So what i'm guessing is surely the problem should be in the damn SENSORS.....they must have got screwed up....if this was there since the beginning then i'm quite certain its factory fault or may be a damage to the sensors.... otherwise working at a temp over 100 Celcius is just absurd......
