Love at first sight, is it something existent?
Could the theory alone be of any weight?
What she feels in her mind is what dares to be daring,
Would her sentiments be insufficient in courage?
Nay, her feelings are free flowing and unadulterated,
They aren’t pressed and pushed on or against,
Would she be brave in her one true emotion, would eternity come to pass?
Could it, oh! Would it be love that she so feels?
Her lips silently part, but no words come forth,
Words are but words, what they pronounce are zilch of worth,
She looks in his eyes and they speak in their minds,
‘Could this be the one, the true love of my life?’
He falters, but is convinced that she bears hope for the future,
Love is reciprocated; will the other play the game?
She knows what he’s thinking, and he feels what she says,
Yet, who steps forward with the first move?
Unforgivable felony is what dares to step forward as they drift apart and away,
What shame once their comprehension of the other’s mind is deterred,
Why did they skulk in the shadows of what they feared would be, yet was not so?
The fountain of love has half-heartedly dried up in their midst
