The Government has directed all state institutions not to employ
private security services under Ceylinco Group of Mr. Lalith
Kotalawala.
The directive has asked heads of state institutions to refrain from
employing security services of the relevant group and to discontinue
if the services have been already obtained.
The reason for taking such a decision has been the statement issued by
Mr. Lalith Kotalawala supporting tiger terrorists and calling them
liberation fighters. The Defense Ministry has expressed its concern
regarding the relevant statement and has decided not to engage the
services of security services of an institution of an individual who
is loyal to tiger terrorists.
Making a statement to ‘Gulf News’ Lalith Kotalawala, the Chairman of
Ceylinco Group had stated that tiger terrorists were liberation
fighters; and if the tigers are to lay down their arms the Government
forces too should do so. Defense Ministry considers these statements
are a threat to national security.
Many organizations and individuals in Sri Lanka have expressed their
concern regarding the statements made by Lalith Kotalawala and had
stated that by making those statements Lalith Kotalawala has committed
an offence punishable by law.
