How do you describe your SLT ADSL connection

This section is only for SLT ADSL customers..If you had any bad experiences with them it's time to talk

With these increasing competition between service providers, where do you think SLT is residing? We need to consider the following aspects

1. How is their Internet bandwidth (peak and off peak) ?
2. How is the service ?
3. Have you had any billing issues in the past (specially for the Entry (1000) package people ) ?
4. Do you think the prices are reasonable ?
5. If face any issues, do you think it's right time to bring this up with TRC ?

This is not to offend anyone...but I assume as customers we need to voice up to gain something from the service provider.

When i was in SL i had a 2000 something Home package. So simply i can call it as : "always break down". :D
Cos it would always disconnect like insane !

I say they don't offer what they promissed..

Their bandwidth sux. Good in the night very bad in the day time. I guess TRC should implement a minimum CIR for all the broadband connections as the service providers take the word "Up to XXX Kbps" for granted a lot. Whenever we say the line is slow....they say "we are offering up to 512 Kbps so 1 Kbps is also accepted."

In addition they never call you back regarding a complain. I once complained about some billing issue and they never got back to me for 2 months...I still have those 2 complain reference numbers so that I can prove a point to them whenever I call.

PLEASE STOP GIVING THAT PACKAGE AND GIVE THE HOME PACKAGE FOR ABOUT 1000rps.

1. It's alright I guess....
2. Used to have few hours of downtime every a year or so ago. but now there is hardly any downtime.

SLT service really sux!
They hv 2 reduce their rentals soon or else they won't be able 2 keep it up!

In da morning & night da speed is Ok!
But after abt 11am da speed is really slow! Then @ abt 7pm da speed is Ok!
After 9 or 10pm da speed is good!

hardly feel a difference .. except for youtube buffering, its better when off peak

no issue with service yet ..but. help desk ppl don't know half of what they say .

yea .. i got +10000 bill and .. after converted to home express,
paid 3300 for extra charges for 3 months saying broad band charges ., nobody knows how it happens.

yes. . why don't they say there is a hidden tax of 600..

SLT telling 2250 home package can provide up to 512KB download speed and 128KB upload speed but maximum i can get is 42-52KB(down) and 12-14KB(up) speed,specially in morning and night,this getting slow when around 10a.m to 5p.m....

SLT Doesn't Seam to maintain Some Quality of their Service...Sux but Nathuwata Hondai...wena mona karannada...Rs:1000/= Sucks and Fake...I am now Switched to Home Express...

They wanted me to go to www.sltnet.lk and download something and let them know the download rate. It was 52 KBps in day time when my browsing speed to any other site is around 12KBps

This is what they said. They provide 512 from SLT to our home. Other than that the browsing speed is not their responsibility as it's shared bandwidth. And again they said we are offering up to 512kbps so you should be able to accept even 1KBps as per the agreement.

How strange this is...

The call center guy that I spoke was called "Priyankara"

I am really going to call TRC tomorrow and make a complain about it. I have done the same thing when I was having the 1000 package as they send me a huge bill of 14000/=. After the TRC complain they reduced the bill by 9000 Rupees which is also higher that my actual usage. But I had to pay it to get my phone line activated.

It is not strange. If you want 2M dedicated bandwidth, get a leased line! And even then you will not get the full speed if the servers on the other end (i.e. the server on which the websites are hosted) do not send them at that speed.

I have done my homework here dude. The site I was talking about is rapidshare. which I can access at 100KBps from my office (using a 4MBps dedicated bandwidth line) and at the same time, 12KBps from my ADSL connection.

If we assume your theory, I should be getting 12KBps download rate from my office as well.

After 2 years i put applications they call then got the 2MB line and it was like heven but thosedays couldnt log to Yahoo then they fixed it, Thosedays downloded tons of vids and movies but after sometime its became damn slow and now converted back to 512KBPS

1. Bandwidth is useless
2. Service is ok, never had huge faliear
3. No billing isues
4. price is ok
