Look what I found:
(300kB image....wait till it loads)
(Idle/2D Maximum/3D Maximum)....sorted in descending order by maximum power in 3D.

I was looking for this all this time. Guess that my VGA vard upgrade has not made the power consumption become higher than it was before....I'm glad :D

Yeah! and surely now my PSU is touch n' go!! :dull: and PSU are damn expensive.. its one of those things I'd have to close my eyes and pay for when it comes to that!!

I measured the power consumption of the PC from the meter (only the PC was running in the whole house! lol)
Typical usage (watching a movie) = 213W
Max usage (running 3DMark06) = 270W
I'm honest, I can't understand anything here. :(

So when it goes from 8800 to 9600 the power consumptions have gone down right?
Is it coz if the technology?

Dude I'm worried have you mounted your HSF properly? Because recently after my upgrade I had to do this again and I felt it was damn difficult the second time around!!!

I don't see the confusion here..
I said 9600GT uses less power because it is slower than 8800GT. (you can't compare 9600 and 8800 families...you can only compare two MODELs....eg: 8800GS is usually slower than the 9600GT, but 8800GT is faster...old 8800GTS is somewhat identical in performance...but new 8800GTS is way faster!)

If you have not overclocked, 1.35V is WAY TOO MUCH FOR YOU CPU! I think even 1.2V is too much, but not sure about it. You have test it. I suggest you manually set the Vcore in BIOS to about 1.25V at first and run Multithreaded Prime95's small fft test (1st test) for couple of hours. If it doesn't fail, reduce the Vcore a little bit more....I am running my age old E6300 at 1.16V and 2.8GHz and I don't see why yours can't. Voltage has an exponential relationship with power consumption (hence power dissipation) and 1.2V will lower power consumtion by ~20%. But you need to test it!
Note: When you set Vcore at AUTO and if you are running the CPU at stock speeds, BIOS will always set the Vcore to VID value. Yours it is 1.35V.

ya ya ya.. remeber those days wen i was tring to OC my pc i was reading all about those things (bt couldnt OC coz of dat heat prob, was kinda scared) bt ya.. wat ur saying is right.. i have to see about reduicng my vcore.. i saw it's set to 1.35 by default.. and will try runnig prime95
bt do i have to use da 1st optoin in prime95?? not da 3rd option da? which is blend ?:):D

You are only checking the CPU. So do the first test. It only stresses the CPU.
