Seems like Vista is nowhere near what Microsoft wanted to release as Longhorn. :(

Remember it uses the video card more than the CPU. To get an idea, a Geforce 8800GTX is about 50-200 times faster than a Core2Extreme CPU with floating point operations!!!

No no. Just because it can give such great performances, you have to specifically write programs to take advantage of it. Normal CPU instructions don't work on the video card.

This is why people are so much looking forward to the AMD Fusion processors. It will incorporate CPU and GPU on the same die. We'll see how it will turn out, but not anytime soon :(

So diz means that Vista release will be further delayed??

Anusha
12-01-2006, 11:53 PM
Nope. It is released already - to the corporate customer. This means that Microsoft have been living in a dream, and most of the features they promised at the beginning belong only to that dream.

Some dreams come true; some don't. What I can't tolerate is that for half the promised features, Microsoft is charging for Vista a more than it did for XP. I hope everyone will use pirated Vista. I'm just soooo

Anusha

Hehe. Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. I gave up Vista because it's not safe to use it. You can't tell when Microsoft will make us regret using these pirated copies. Until a proper crack is fount, I'd wait a bit. Anyway, there were certain things that I didn't like in Vista. And 1GB just isn't enough to play games on Vista. It's not even enough on XP, but it's at least better than Vista.

I already have the final version, but legitimately it works for only 30 days.

Anusha

Most of the software work now, but not only because Vista is final, but because other companies have built compatible software.

3.52GB? Is that x64 edition? Because 32 bit RC2 was only about 2.5GB. RTM is also the same size, not the exact same size, but close.

Vista will not be like this, because it is already released on volume licensing. The only things that might add in the final version for individual consumers of Ultimate Edition are the motion desktop and maybe something like Plus! for Windows XP (it's Vista version). Whoever watched that video will be very disappointed in what Microsoft have released as Vista.
