Port forwarding is something used in Internet access. Each program get a virtual port for it self when connected to the internet and they use it to send and receive data.P2P softs,Torrent trackers r the main things.Hackers access via these virtual ports too.Certain ports gain more results for some softs. For eg:-uTorrent is very fast when you enter 32459 as the port.Bitcomet is fast for ports between 9881~9990.www.portforward.com has some tweaks and help for this too.Pls post your knowledge here and share with us.[the data in this thread might be wrong-to correct that is your task!!;)]

For me, 25000 works fine.
There isn't anything called best port or good port. For best performance, you should not use a port for your torrent client which is not used by anything else on your PC. utorrent recommends anything above 49152 to be safe. But if you know a port is not used by anything else, it will not be any different from another.

I agree with Anusha. There is no such thing as the best performing port, although there are pre-determined ports for quite a lot of applications.

I havent personally used u-torrent, but in Azureus, if you have full connectivity, i.e. your application (or PC) is accessible without you having to make a connection to outside, it performs pretty fast. So the reason why you find u-torrent working very fast on the particular port may be due to it being the default port of u-torrent. Im pretty sure you can change it.

If you want to speed up the speeds in torrent or other sharing software there are quite a number of tweaks available like you have mentioned. But I think they go as a separate topic :)
