well we can use srilankan lion coz this is an srilankan site. the thread you showing not about a logo its about a personal issue.

Yes we can use the lion. But not the flag. In US it is illegal to super impose anything using the US Flag as the background. We don't have the same kind of laws, but at least we'll respect our flag by not using it for commercial purposes.

Machang.....If you wanna talk about US... I have seen in one of those movies (I think Charlie's Angels) Camaron Diaz wearing a bikini which is either side of her boobs stars and stripes... And there is no commercial purpose here!! It's community site! None of the members making money out of this... except they take time out from their very busy life to come and drop few lines to fellow country men!!!

If the Sri Lankan Crickert team which represent the country can have the flag in their uniform, why Elakiri.com which is a community portal for all Sri Lankans around the world cannot use the flag!!

The flags is ours machang..... I have the same respect that you do.. The way I see it.... and if you want me to explain why I used it is...

SL Flag represent all races and communities in a united Sri Lanka... And same theory i see in Elakiri.com

Most important thing is we need to know where to draw the line... We cant be extremists!!!

no machan we have such law in srilanka too, you cant use the flag or that lion as you want.
as i know you can't register domains in LK registry with sri lanka or lanka in front of the name too without special permission.
Anyway that law not in action, so its basically depends on what we put with the lion or the flag and our intention behind creating the banner or logo. :yes:
