    APN Backup & Restore

A simple App to backup and restore APNs (Settings to connect to the internet with the mobile connection). The backup is stored in the /sdcard/APNBackupRestore folder.

NOTE: Starting with Android 4.0/ICS, 3rd Party apps don't have access to write APN settings, hence this app no longer works for restoring APN backups. Some users have reported that it can be used on ICS if its set to run as a System app (using Titanium for example)

    SetCPU for Root Users

SetCPU is a tool for changing the CPU settings (capable of overclock and underclock) on a rooted Android phone, including the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, Motorola Droid, Nexus One, G1, G2, Samsung Galaxy S II, myTouch 4G, Motorola Xoom, or one of many other devices to improve performance or save battery.

SetCPU also allows you to set up powerful profiles to change the CPU speed under certain conditions, such as when the phone is asleep or charging, when the battery level drops below a certain point, when the phone's temperature is too high, or during certain times of day. See the screenshots for examples of how you might set up profiles.

SetCPU's wide feature set make it useful to beginners and enthusiasts alike. Accelerate your processor to unleash your phone's multitasking potential, or dial your CPU's speed down to save battery.

SetCPU also includes a "voltage control" menu, available to certain devices with custom kernels that support it, to control undervolting to save even more battery. Keep in mind that undervolting is only available for certain kernels.

Have an HTC Sense device with a stock ROM or kernel? If you are having trouble getting your settings to "stick," press Menu > Disable Perflock. You still have to be rooted.

Galaxy S devices: conservative scaling is recommended where it is used by default (ondemand on the Nexus S and Galaxy S II). There are issues with Galaxy S kernels that may result in crashes if some other scaling governors are used, or if the sleep profile "max" value is set too low.

Getting a lot of Superuser notifications? It's a known issue with some multicore systems and will be fixed. For now, update Superuser on the Market and turn off notifications in the settings.

    Recent Changes:
2.3.0: All new interface featuring a new frequency slider. Tap or slide your finger across the slider to quickly switch CPU speeds. Added an Action Bar and implemented View Pager navigation, revamping the entire interface around the new Android design guidelines. Dropped the dual pane info menu and added simpler Action Bar-based navigation. Changed all references to "scaling" to "governor." Added a new governor menu (previously "Advanced") that supports more governors and supports persisting when switching profiles. Improved support for some multicore systems and tablets. Dropped support for Android SDK versions Android 2.0.1 and below. Removed jargon from some descriptions and explanations. Numerous minor bug fixes and interface enhancements. Perflock disabler update coming soon.

2.3.0.1: Fixed an issue with custom frequencies. Sorry about that!

2.2.4 - Improved support for the new MSM 8x60 devices (such as the HTC EVO 3D and Sensation).

2.2.3 - Fixed an issue where the voltage menu displayed frequencies backwards on certain devices capable of voltage control. Added support for additional CPU temperature sensors.

    Permissions:
Root: SetCPU needs root permissions to modify the CPU speed and settings.

Start at boot: SetCPU will start a profiles service at boot, if enabled. It also sets default boot settings, if enabled. SetCPU does not run in the background if profiles are not enabled, and becomes inactive after settings, if any, are applied.

Wake lock: This prevents the phone from sleeping while stress testing and benchmarking.

Vibrate: The device will vibrate if profile temperature warnings are enabled.

Write external storage: SetCPU needs to read from and write to the SD card or internal storage to back up profile settings. It accesses the root directory only, and does not touch other files. SetCPU also has a "safe mode" feature that writes a special update.zip file to your storage that enables "safe mode."

Read phone state: The "in call" profile needs this to determine if the user is making a phone call or not, and trigger the profile if the user wants to. SetCPU never reads or transmits any personally identifiable information from the phone.

    Michael Lepori (Italian)
    MMiG (French)
    Peter Buzas (Hungarian)

IMPORTANT NOTE: ANY LICENSING PROBLEMS - PLEASE SEND US A MAIL!!

    Additional notes:
    - App 2 SD: some applications are not suited for installation on external storage (SD). This often applies when services, alarms, widgets and auto start functionality is involved. Batteryminder includes all of the above, which is also the reason why it does not allow for external storage (SD) installation.
    - Time estimate accuracy: Batteryminder bases remaining time estimate calculations on battery status reports gathered from the Android system. As a result, time estimates will become much more accurate over time and also less fluctuating. Please be patient for improved accuracy. Please also note that clearing the battery data history will force time estimate calculation to start over from zero.
    - 10% increments: due to some manufacturers/devices (e.g. Motorola Droid) only reporting battery status information in 10% increments, Batteryminder will not be able to display more accurate battery level information in the status bar icon and similar.
    - Momentary estimates: The momentary/historical average setting toggles between trying to answer one of the following two questions; "How much longer would my device be able to run, given that I keep using it the same way as I am at this very moment?" (momentary) or "If I use my device about the same way as I usually do during a normal day, how much longer would my battery last?" (historical average).
    - Battery health: Please note that battery health has nothing to do with the current battery level/charge (%). Battery health tries to say when it's time to replace an old, soon broken, battery.

Keywords: battery, monitor, level, charge, power, indicator, alert, alarm, time, estimate, health, temp, energy, notification, drain, save, life, temperature, meter, remaining, graph, task, manager, widget, theme, customizable, juice

    Rotation Locker

Bothered by having your phone flip to portrait or landscape while laying down? Too lazy to look around Android settings to enable/disable autorotate? This app is the solution.

This is a very simple free app that allows you to do the following:

    - Lock your screen's rotation in Landscape, Portrait or Auto. When you launch the app, you're faced with these three options.

    - Includes a Tasker/Locale plugin so you can automate the rotation switch based on different profiles.

    - Ability to launch the app from any window in Android by long pressing on the search key. (Only for devices that have a physical search button).

    - Long press on any orientation profile to activate a persistent background service. (This is useful if your phone seems to exit the locked orientation all of a sudden due to low memory resources).

    - A widget is provided so you can lock into whatever your current orientation is. (Useful for reverse landscape for example).

I've searched the Market for an app that will lock my screen's autorotate to landscape and found only one paid app that runs a service continuously in the background (regardless of chosen screen orientation) so I wrote this up. It's free and the background service is optional.

It should work on any device sporting Android 2.1 (Froyo) and higher.

keywords: screen control autorotate landscape portrait rotate rotation orientation
