IF you want to have all the klimate of the world sri lanaka is the best place.. I like to travel the world and i do..But alway the mind come back to sri lanka.. If the Sri lanka become a rich country after the war i wll be leaving the Germany and back in Sri lanka on the next plane...

If we need to get SL on the top of this list.. we have to do 2 things;

1. We must end this f**king war
2. In a parliament day, we should drop a 5000KG bomb on the Parliament roof.

everyone loves their motherland.... think of sri lankan children adopted by foreigners! say, in Denmark. they love Denmark.

jeez! think of the building man! dont destroy that! use something like Anthrax and atleaset save the building.

If we talk to Sri Lankan who is currently living in Sri Lanka definitely over 10% wants to migrate , cause they believe other countries are better than Sri Lanka.

But if you have been to so calls better countries are not best at all . Sri Lanka is the best country in the world to live because of its people , enviroment , society , you name every thing is here.

But one thing day by day we are changing this, so its our duty to keep this country as best place in the world to the next generation.

I was born in Sri Lanka, but have been living in Australia since I was 9 months old. I suppose I can't really judge since I haven't lived in SL for a long term basis, I can still add a few thoughts to discussion...

I've visited Lanka...4 times now- staying for at least a month each trip. There's so many fantastic things about the country. What I noticed most, is the close knit community. It's as though everyone knows everyone (for those who live in small towns and villages), so if you ever need help in ANYTHING, you know who to go to. And because of this, it's a very trusting atmosphere. The natural environment is absolutely gorgeous too.

So many negative issues though. I could never live in SL. I'm too used to the Australian lifestyle. Bad things:
- pollution. Lanka is absolutely filthy. There really needs to be some national waste disposal system implemented, like in majority of other countries.
- water system. I for one, cannot stand constant cold showers! I don't know how you guys cope. Hot water systems are a big priority for me.
- roads/traffic. An absolute disgrace. Feels like it'll be my last day alive when ever I'm on the road- on foot or in a vehicle. It's extremely dangerous. I'm surprised there's not as many casualties as I'd expect.
- too much security in public places. I know it's for the better good, but it feels so restricting.
- War. Obviously.
- Strict customs. Can't stand the dress code there. I was short dresses and skirts there, and everyone STARES YOU DOWN. It's quite nerve racking. And the a lot of the boys need to control their remarks/winks/following etc...

Eek, that's a lot of negatives! And I can think of many more too...

Essence, your issues are superficial at best. I too agree it's best if you stay there in Australia.

People live abroad do know the value of Sri Lanka better than people live in Sri Lanka I think.

Washing toilets is not a common jobs for Sri Lankans. But I'm not telling people don't do it.

Anyway this attitude is what's wrong in Sri Lanka.
Why do you say washing a toilet is a dirty work? Don't you wash your toilet?
In western countries it is considered to be a hard and a valuable job. Bacause only a few can do that job and we really need them to have our toilets clean. So we really love them and treat them as gentlemen.

Normaly a cleaner would earn around $1000 for a week. A normal office worker would earn around $1500 a week. So we all live in the same situation and same status. But the Sri Lankan attitude creates an impression saying some jobs are good and some jobs are dirty. That's the attitude which leaves us in our current situation. and I'm sure because of that attitude many people have left the country. (e.g. The mechanics of German Tech)

i only say .....why we shld do SUDDA's dirty wrks ...... if u knw ..... there r plenty of jobs ...in Srilanka .....wht we say respectable jobs ...... bt knw one even dare enough to try ....
