good point...

most God followers are worshiping him without an assurance of getting anything in return...

Ex: that 72 virgin thing.... Even i would be out on the streets yelling "allah huwakbar", if i was certain i will get them 72 virgins...

first people worshiped stuff like trees, mountains as Gods , then when they realized they will cease to exist in time, they declared apparently eternal sun and moon as Gods.. then when they realized those things too are only mere objects they thought God to be something/someone invisible up one sky...

and ofcourse politics go hand and hand with religious indoctrinations...
