I bought a phone from a shop called Premier at Mount Lavinia(322e, Galle Road, Mount Lavinia) in April 2010. The main reason for choosing this place to get my phone is, they said that they are providing two years of warranty. Therefore I bought a phone(Sony Ericsson W595) for the price of Rs.20,900. After I have paid the whole amount, I got receipts and warranty license. When I read that agreement I saw that there's only one year of warranty with their good. When I ask about it, they said that theres only service warranty within second year and we have to pay for them. And they clearly mentioned that, they only charge for the parts, during the second year. There's a great misleading of customers, by initially advertising two years of warranty and mentioning another thing on license agreements.
Those days I am very much busy with my studies and I had no time to get the money back and go for a another shop. Nevertheless if someone not ask about it, they never said the truth and customer got to know the reality once they came back for claim their warranties.
The next issue with this shop is the number of customers for complaints is grater than the number of customers for new phones. If you go to buy a phone from this shop you will realize that how many of customers are harassed by this particular shop. Now my phone was also broken. The error was display is blank. I went to the shop and ask about it. They checked my phone and give me a form which mentioned that the "display is blank" and got my signature. This form has a another field called "Drop Damage" and I must tell you that it was not checked. Then they kept my phone with them and asked me to come next week. But they actually took more than two weeks.
Once I was going to collect my phone, they asked me to pay Rs.3500.00 and they said me that they have replace the Display. I hadn't told them to replace my display any time. I gave them the phone because it's within the warranty period. The major thing is now they are saying that there was drop damages with my phone and put a tick on that field, I have mentioned earlier. They told me that I have already agreed that there was drop damages with the phone.
The major question arises hear is "there is no any warranty for damaged phones and they are not warrant for such items" they have clearly mentioned that on license agreement. But previous time they accepted my phone is within warranty period and no damages, otherwise they should have rejected my phone as damaged one. But what they have done is deliberately put a tick on "Drop Damage" field and trying to get money from me illegally. Once I have told it's not a damaged one, they show me that I have signed for it as a damaged phone. They had been illegally asking for Rs.3500 for just a display. Even I have not agreed to replace the display, they said they have replaced but I don't know whether it's replaced or not.
The Most hilarious thing was when I asked to put my earlier display back and give my phone, they refused it and they reduce the price to Rs.2800.00. They mentioned on their license agreement that they only charge for parts, and no service charges, then how they reduced the price?
But since I was very urgent with my phone, I paid Rs.2800.00 and get my phone back. But now it's again giving me software issues with camera. But when I going for ask about it they refused to accept my phone, even within the warranty period. Even they were not allowed me to talk about it, because it might break their new customers.
Please be aware of this place, otherwise most of customers and students will catch by this fake shop. Even now my phone is broken it'll be a great help for the whole Sri Lankan since phone is a necessary equipment for you, me and everyone else.
