Media Minister Lakshman Yapa visited the MBC-MTV main station at Pannipitiya around 06.00 in the morning to say he was saddened when he heard about the attack on 'Sirasa'.
Speaking to MTV "News First" the Minister said, he personally believes media has a right to have different sides to news and that he would uphold media freedom.
Asked what he has to say to the people about this attack on a media institute, Minister Yapa avoided saying the people should condemn such attacks and went on to say he believed the management would take every effort to get on air soon to serve its listeners and viewers, adding that he believes 'Sirasa' has that capacity.
Minister Yapa visited SL Rupavahini Corporation when Dr. Mervyn Silva MP stormed the station and was locked up by the employees to go live on air promising an impartial investigation and impartial police action saying he condemns the incident.
