WTF is boot loader

Bootloaders are used to boot operating system on our device . Usually our phone's bootloader will be locked by Sony Ericsson during its production itself . Almost every custom rom we install has its own KERNEL which is responsible for overclocking the cpu & other stuff.To install custom roms which contains custom kernels we need UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS .

Ohh so how can I unlock boot loader of my 2011 Xperia handset

There are 3 methods,
01.Unlocking via Sony's Official website - FREE
02.Via S1tool - FREE
03.Via SEtool2 - PAID

Ok tell me more about these

01.Sony website method


Sony has provided a website where we get an unlock code for each IMEI no. type in that code and your bootloader will get unlocked officially . This is the easiest unlocking method possible .
BUT THERE ARE DOWNSIDES
1. Bye bye warranty,will void warranty
2. Will loose DRM Keys = bye bye Sony apps like track Id
3. Bye bye pc companion,no more updating or repairing with pc companion

02.S1tool method

In this method you will need to short circuit a testpoint in phone and patch boot loader with S1tool,not that much recommended for noobs
Also how to do varies from phone model to model.In short here what to do in Neo V/Neo



That is the testpoint you need to short circuit by using a copper wire and connect it to - battery point.For NEO V testpoint is located deep within a slot covered by a black patch which is above our SIMCARD slot.
We need to connect a copper wire to that test point and this point in battery



Steps

1.Download S1tool from here

2.Connect test point to the ground and attach USB cable. Wait while Windows shows finding new device, disconnect test point immediately. Windows won't find drivers.select drivers manually from the archive of SEtool. Agree to install 'untrusted' drivers.

3. Reboot PC

4.Run S1tool, press 'Patch semcboot' and follow tho on-screen instruction



RELOCK : ONLY THE RESTORE BUTTON PRESENT IN S1TOOL WILL RELOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER , other procedures will not work.Connecting TP to ground while using RESTORE button is not necessary.


03.SETool2 method-PAID

btw I recommend this method to anyone,best method to unlock boot loader

CWM recovery is also known as ClockWorkMod Recovery.Its the best recovery tool we got for our 2011 Xperia's.
Advantages,

1. Installing custom roms ,patches , flashable zips
2. Backup & restoring your rom(it can take a full image of rom as its been )
3. Wiping system,cache & other partitions
& lot more................I'm lazy to type


How to install

1. Enable USB Debugging on handset
2. Connect data cable to phone and pc
3. Download and extract - http://www.mediafire.com/?txjlbeaa36xxxe6
4. Download and install ADB drivers - http://www.mediafire.com/?wh345tb5yyl6y02
5. Run install-cwm1.cmd in zip you downloaded in step 3,wait till it finishes
6. Switch off your phone , press the power button and keep pressing the volume down button when you see Sony Ericsson for the first time until you see CWM.Keep pressing volume key at boot logo(not boot animation)

You will see this now
