MARATHON runner Anuradha Cooray grabs some fuel for the race... and a break from his job at Greggs. The dad of two, 35, runs 17 miles each morning before going to work for the bakery chain in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. And he keeps up his energy levels by munching on pasties and sarnies.
Cooray said: “Not many athletes work and train professionally, it’s hard to do both, but I have to so I can support my family. Sometimes I get up at 4am to run before I have to be at Greggs at 6.30.
“I eat lots of chicken baguettes, they have everything you need. I also like spicy chicken pasties.”
Greggs chief executive Ken McMeikan said: “It’s fantastic to have one of our staff in the Olympics.”
