My Dear Elakiri Group Members

I did not come across a single post or discussion on Sinhala or English Theatre.

As a Theatre lover I decided to start this thread so that we can discuss, share any articles or news regarding theatre, while we welcome any scripts, songs or Videos of Stage Drama

Sri Lanka has been a Country with a rich heritage in drama which includes master pieces such as Maname, Sinhabahu and has also excelled in English plays by Indu Dharmasena etc.

It is highly pathetic that today stage dramas are not getting any recognition that the cinema and Teledramas get

Thefore let us share any Scripts or Video clips of Stage Dramas and discuss any latest information and latst plays that are to be performed in Sri Lanka

A new stage play is been shown at Lionel Wendt known as "Hon. Puss".

This play is a political satire about a President named Chaminda Pusswedilla and his days work.

They are showing it only till the 28 June 2009 that is this Sunday.

My Dear Friends

I came across 2 DVDs of the famous plays "Kuweni" and "Hunuwataye Kathawa" in Torana.

The Price is somewhat high (Rs.1000), but would be a valuable oppertunity to those intersted in them. As both the Character of Kuweni and Grusha in Hunuwataye Kathawa are portrayed by Late Mrs. Manel Jayasena.

Similarly if you all come across such plays in VCD or DVD format please let all of us know
