Bandaranaike, Samaraweeara stripped of ministry portfolios
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse has stripped three of his ministers of their portfolios with immediate effect, revealed sources at the Sri Lankan Presidential Secretariat Friday. Anura Bandaranaike, the Sri Lankan Minister of National Heritage and the brother of former SL President Chandrika Kumaratunga and the son of two former Heads of Sri Lanka, the lankan Minister of Ports and Aviation, Mangala Samaraweera who lost his Foreign Ministry portfolio in the latest re-shuffle and Sripathi Suriyarachchi, minister of port development have lost their ministry portfolios, according to the sources.
Mr. Anura Bandaranaike, in a Question of Privllege, raised in the Sri Lankan parliament Thursday alluded Rajapakse's brother was behind the recent death threats issued against him and declared that no one could chase away members of Bandaranaike family from politics by intimidation.
