With good rain, food production has risen from North and East. There is no shortage of food. Instead of dumping food in the forest reserves. It would be wise to grow food for international market instead of Local market. Instead of Samba farmers should grow A1 quality Basmati rice,Truffles, Hazel nuts, Saffron, Blue Berries, Black Berries, Lavender, Honey,Olives,Rose flowers,Sun Flowers etc. Not only farmers would not suffer but also Forex reserves will rise.

It is high time Sri Lanka Implements export oriented food production.

we got limited space in this highly populated island nation. i assume sri lanka should use new technology to harvest crops.

focusing on vertical farming can save space in a country like sri lanka. i personally think destroying forests and cutting down big trees to make paddy fields is a bad idea. we should make use of technology to do farming in a tiny country like sri lanka.

Just no. This monoculture would collapse soon. It's not going to work. We have a huge problem in our mindset. What this would give is more problems, not more foods.
