Tiger aircrafts bomb Palaali military base in Jaffna

Two attack air-crafts of the Tamileealm Air Force (TAF) have bombed Palaali military base Tuesday early morning at 1:20 a.m., inflicting heavy damage to the Sri Lankan military garrison in Jaffna's High Security Zone, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) military spokesman Irasiah Ilanthirayan told TamilNet.

The attack has caused severe casualties to the Sri Lankan forces garrisoned in the base, Mr. Ilanthirayan added.

The attack comes a month after the Tigers attacked Colombo's Katunayake military airbase causing severe damage to the Sri Lankan Air Force installation. :yes:

i think this news is wrong.. i think it have to be the other way. Army Aircrafts bomb a LTTE Bunker in Jaffna. from that they killed more than 30 LTTE Noobs.
we are kicking the asses of those LTTE Tamils.

SLAF resumes air raid at identified LTTE targets- Jaffna

The SLAF fighter jets resumed air raids at identified LTTE targets on 23rd April, at 12.10p.m and 01.00p.m consecutively.

According to the MCNS officials, an LTTE strategic sea Tiger base shattered into rubbles following the SLAF accurate air strikes, at Thalaiaddi south of Nagarkovil.

Meanwhile, the sources further added that a terrorist gathering was also engaged west of Thoppigala in Batticaloa district, at 01.00p.m.

Actually we are more accurate, coz our people don't get anything by saying we did this much damage, except the final victory. but they can keep there people happy by at lest saying we did this much and hope they will fund them, i think there pockets are empty these days...............

Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers bomb air base in north

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Tamil Tiger aircraft bombed a Sri Lankan military air base in the north of the country early on Tuesday, the second such strike by the rebel group.

"Tamil Tigers air wing attacked Palaali airstrip and military storage," rebel military spokesman Ilanthirayan said by telephone. "Our aircraft returned safely."

He said the extent of the damage was unknown, but the pro-Tiger Web site Tamilnet reported the attack inflicted "heavy damage" to a military garrison.

A government military spokesman could not be reached for a comment.

The attack on Tuesday came nearly a month after Tamil Tiger light aircraft flew undetected from rebel-held territory in the north of the island to the capital on the southwestern coast and bombed an air base next to the international airport.

Analysts say the Tigers' mini-air force consists of just two to five light, propeller planes built by pieces smuggled in over time, but are a threat the military would be ill-advised to underestimate.

The rebels, known officially as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, or LTTE, have been fighting for decades for an independent homeland on the north and east of the teardrop-shaped island in the Indian Ocean.

Since 1983 the war in Sri Lanka has killed some 68,000 people, including more than 4,000 in the past 16 months as violence has intensified and left a 2002 ceasefire agreement in tatters.

The government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa has vowed to destroy the Tigers, while the rebels have warned of a "bloodbath" if the international community fails to stop daily military attacks.

SL High Commission bares LTTE links to clone credit card scam in UK

The First Secretary to Sri Lanka High Commissioner in the UK speaking to the BBC has said that the LTTE is well behind the clone card scam recently bared by the British sleuths. First secretary (Political) Mr. Maxwell Keegel giving interviews to BBC World Service Television, BBC channel One and BBC News TV on Saturday (21) said that considerable evidence is available to show that the fraud as been committed by the LTTE.

"We've got considerable evidence on this and we've known that this has been happening for a long time, how cards are skimmed in petrol stations here and information is transmitted almost immediately to LTTE operatives in other parts of the world who pick up this information and withdrew large sums of money", Mr. Keegel said.

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lankan troops have driven Tamil Tiger rebels from a key stronghold in the island's restive east, the military said on Wednesday, as the government probed how a rebel plane managed to bomb a base in the capital.

Troops seeking to evict Tiger fighters from the eastern district of Batticaloa found late on Tuesday a complex of bungalows they say was a hurriedly abandoned rebel headquarters whose occupants fled to nearby jungle.

"We have captured a Tiger headquarters in Kokkadichcholai, south of Batticaloa," said military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe. "It was real luxury living. They had bungalows, conference halls."

"They have withdrawn," he added. "When we went in, no one was there."

The Tigers, who have lost an estimated 600 square km (230 square miles) of terrain to military offensives in the east in recent months, were not immediately available for comment.

The rout comes after a Tamil Tiger suicide bomber tried to blow up an army camp in Sri Lanka on Tuesday, killing nine people. The previous day, the rebels carried out their first air strike since fighting erupted in 1983.

The government has yet to explain how the Tigers managed to fly a light aircraft over the capital undetected, drop bombs and fly back to their northern stronghold without being shot down. But it says the Tiger air wing also represents a threat to South Asian neighbours like India.
