Hrithik Roshan & Aishwarya Rai are the hottest pair of 2007 in bollywood. Since Jodha Akbar features the hottest pair of 2007, it's not entirely surprising that it's the most awaited film this year.

Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a marriage of alliance that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodhaa.

Political success knew no bounds for Emperor Akbar (Hrithik Roshan). After having secured the Hindu Kush, he furthered his realm by conquest until his empire extended from Afghanistan to the Bay of Bengal, and from the Himalayas to the Godavari River. Through a shrewd blend of tolerance, generosity, and force, Akbar won the allegiance of the Rajputs, the most belligerent Hindus. But little did Akbar know that when he married Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai), a fiery Rajput princess, in order to further strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking upon a new journey – the journey of true love.

The daughter of King Bharmal of Amer, Jodhaa resented being reduced to a mere political pawn in this marriage of alliance, and Akbar’s biggest challenge now did not merely lie in winning battles, but in winning the love of Jodhaa – a love hidden deep below resentment and extreme prejudice. Jodhaa-Akbar is their untold love story. This movie is scheduled for release on October 12, 2007.

    More news about Jodhaa Akbar

Here is taking a first look at Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodha Akbar. Although we can barely see Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya's face, they surely look like the perfect royal couple with Hrithik wearing a shining armour with intricate designs and Ash wearing real jewellery.

The story goes that fashion designer and stylist Neeta Lulla determined the design for Hrithik's metal armour after a month-long research. The actor is also sporting a headgear with precious stones (not seen in the picture).

Aishwarya is sporting heavy saris replete with zardozi work and other embroidery. Sources close to the actress tell us that she was literally weighed down by all the jewellery that she wore while shooting.

For the sake of authenticity, Ashutosh Gowarikar has used pure gold and diamond jewellery in the film. When quizzed about it, Neeta Lulla says, “Yes I have designed Hrithik's armour and Aishwarya's saris. But I cannot talk about it till Ashutosh gives me permission to do so.”

Apart from Hrithik and Aishwarya, members of the royal family (mostly played by junior artistes) are also wearing expensive jewellery in the film.

A source from the sets says, “All cast members wear real gold, rubies and diamonds. Also, swords and a rakhi that Ash ties on her brother are studded with real precious stones like rubies, emeralds and sapphires. A popular jewellery brand has provided all the jewellery. In keeping with the Mughal times, they are very heavy.”

The sets of Jodha Akbar in ND Studios, Karjat houses a protected cell where all jewellery and other precious accessories have been safely stored. The room has special security measures too.

A unit member from the studios says, “The security measures have been beefed up ever since Ashutosh has been shooting for his film here. No one is allowed to go to the jewellery room except for the lead actors.”

After a day’s shoot, an assistant director ensures that jewellery has been safely kept back in the cases. Also, the actors have to go through various checkpoints and other frisking procedures before they step out of the sets.

'Jodhaa Akbar' opts out of Idd race

It’s finally confirmed! All along, there were whispers that JODHAA AKBAR wouldn’t make it in the Idd week [October 12], but UTV was hopeful that the film would hit the screens on the scheduled date. In fact, we did crosscheck with UTV on several occasions and till last week were told to maintain the same date.

But the colossal historical has finally moved ahead. As things stand today, the film would make it in December/January, not before that. Reportedly, a few days shooting is going on currently. “The new release date is yet to be locked,” Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV confirms.

Meanwhile, UTV has preponed the release date of DHAN DHANA DHAN… GOAL. The film was slated for release in December, but will arrive earlier, on October 26. Incidentally, another John Abraham starrer NO SMOKING is also arriving on this date. Will the two John starrers clash with each other, is to be seen.

Jodhaa Akbar to finally release in January

    Source: Hindustan Times

Ashutosh Gowariker's magnum opus will open worldwide on January 25, 2008. The publicity of the film has just about begun with ‘look-alikes' of the Emperor and his Queen read Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai - making surprise appearances at various multiplexes across the country.

Explaining the postponement, a source associated with the film, said, "Ashutosh was aware that Jodhaa Akbar wouldn't be ready for release on October 12. But he kept harping on that date so that the post-production work wouldn't slow down. The shooting was wrapped up earlier this month with a song picturised on Hrithik and Aishwarya with about 2500 dancers."

There are several special effects in the historical which are being executed by Tata Elixi, which also did Dhoom 2. Denying reports that A R Rahman is taking time to create the background, the source says, "Rahman began creating the background music at the right time. He has committed a date to Ashutosh and he will deliver on time."

The film trailer of the costume drama will be launched later this month. Apparently, Gowariker is also planning to release a book on the magnum opus, a fortnight before the film's premiere.
