I decided to open this thread to Help our Brothers n Sisters who already finished or finishing O/L or A/L this year.....Hope this will help u all....

In this thread we all can share ideas about different pathways that they can Choose and also what are the most demanding career opportunities for them...and also everyone can share there personal experinces as well...

To star with after i finished my O/L i choose Maths stream to do my A/Ls coz i was good in maths and also i liked computer and stuff so studyn in maths will help me in the Field of IT...so after my A/L i slected for Geological Eng at Mora but i was never intereted in that Stream...so i select SLIIT to continue my studies...and i had a clear plan that ill complete the Higher Dip at SLIIT and going to Australia to complete my degree...and my plan worked and at the movement im Doing my Masters in Australia....

What im trying to express is do what ever that you like...Dont Choose your career or filed to make some other once happy or bcz they force you to do so...and have a clear plan about what u going to Do...

There are so many paths that u can choose....there are very low percentage that can go to University for Higher Education in Sri Lanka...

* IF you interested in IT i think SLIIT , Informatics in Wellawatta( Not Singapore Informatics ) , APIIT are the best institutes...

* IF you interested in Accounts or Management you can do CIMA or Charted Accoutancy or else there are various Management Degrees at ACBT and also in Informatics.

* Banking is one of the Best ways to earn something as soon as u finished your studies and if you work hard u can come to a top possition in the banking sector...(Eg : HSBC , Standard Charted, Seylan)

* For Girls they can choose something like interior Designing or Fashion Designing which is very rare and become very popular in all over the world...there are several Academies have opened recently in Sri lanka as well...

Well actually I agree with you. Better to choose what we are best and what our heart desire rather than opting for a stream that others might recommend. Cuz once we are in the middle of the path no way of turning back.Just only to blame ourselves for the incorrect judgement we had. So do think twice before selecting ya subject area before its too late.Good luck for all the people who have just finished their A/Ls and O/Ls.

    Cheers

Its true every word of you said bro. Don't rely on others to gives us directions to select which stream or what kinda higher education we should select. Cuz once you are in the middle of the track there is a little chance of turning back. Dont curse yourself for the incorrect judgment you had taken. Anyways wish you all take the correct decision and making your future a bright one. Cheers

    Where I'm now
Well IIT is da best.(Informatics Institute of Technology).SLIIT is now like an AL tuition class. And once I went to fix in the cables and reformat the PC of a SLIIT lecturer(a She):P :P :P.And I know one lecturer in APIIT who will recomend a Pentium D over a Core 2 duo and doesnt know of Quad cores. In IIT you will find guys n gals crazily smart at programming but dont know even paint :P.Everything has good n bad,Just choose what is your way and turn to the best at that side.Dont go where the wave gets you,try to swim. This is my 2 cents of advice.

emm do you guys get subjects like pshycology as a sub for a/lz????
First of all Psychology.:P :P :P I dont mean to be rude to you,my lady (I think you are a she) but the fact is if you want to do a thing, get interested in and get over it.Just dont go to learn it.Check whether you are able to carry it on.And for your question,no you dont get such subjects even in some foreign countries. And if you can do them(I rarely doubt)you wont be able to enter a government university.
