If you were to choose a scripting language for your latest web project, what scripting language would you choose / prefer MOST (for those who can work on multiple platforms)?

Just think that the requirements for the project can be archived by any of these languages and there's no definite deadline!

Basically I just wanna see the percentages of members that are interested in various scripting methods!!

If your preferred languages not listed then please VOTE for other and mention in this thread!

Thank You!

I would prefer C#. Fiercely powerful! :D

But again, it depends on whether it's a web based app or a stand alone app. If it's web based, then I would deff go with ASP.NET

hey some of them R not scripting languages ,,, Eg: Java, VB.net

Different people interpret scripting languages in diff ways. :)

I guess you're talking about javascript, activeX, VbScript etc.

But in here, sri_lion is asking about 'programming.' ;)

No machan,, Im Not talking about javascripts, vbscripts, Im talking about Java n etc. Generally u called a scripting languages which users run time interpreter. But Java like languages not like dat. U need to compile the java code b4 u ran dat, but when U consider php u dont need to precompile dat. Thats why php like languages purely called as scripting languages, but not Java.

Why dont you tell us why its wrong then?

FYI, they are also called Server Side Scripting languages! That's what I meant!

Java may be a serverside language, but not a serverside scripting language,, but php is purely serverside scripting language.

Yes, you're correct. There is a small mis-interpretation in the question.

But think like this ;)

Java -> JSP, Servlets
VB -> VBScript
javascript
php
ASP.NET
Perl/CGI

I said "JAVA/JSP", JAVA technology as in JSP which uses JAVA related coding!!

Besides JSP / Java Servlets also has to be compiled and interpreted by a JSP compiler!!

Yes machan,, there are many deffinitions for a scripting language, we cant say any definition is wrong,, so I think we have nothing to fight regarding this,, ;) ;) ;)
