The Jathika Sangha Sammelanaya (JSS) has donated sarongs and bed sheets to over 100 soldiers suffering from leg injuries and fever.

The JSS made this donation during a tour of Weli-Oya last weekend. JSS Secretary, Venerable Dutuwewe Lanka Nanda Thera and those accompanying him also provided the soldiers with medicines and chanted sethpirith.

The soldiers were in Weli-Oya for over four months with no proper sleep, without having a bath and no medical facilities. Only one doctor is on duty at the hospital there assisted by 10 medical staffers from the Anuradhapura Hospital working on shifts.

Weli-Oya residents are doing their best to help the soldiers on frontline providing them with bread and other food stuff and tea.
