The 32nd local branch of Mahamevnawa is scheduled to be opened at Aparekka, Matara on the 17th of May 2008. The Asapuwa (Mahamevnawa Maha Viharaya) which is located in the southern province is said to become the headquarters of Mahamevnawa and all the activities cuurently being carried out Polgahawela Asapuwa will be transfered to Matara. The opening will be followed by a Pavidi Pinkama, as the first ceremony to be held at the new location.

It is also planned to build a Sthupa identical to Ruwanmali Maha Seya in features and about quarter the size of it, within the premises of Asapuwa.
