Yes I agree that Amarasiri peiris has a great voice, but in my opinion Amila Perera sings Amarasiri songs in a better voice ! Just listen to Amila's renditions of "Landune" & " Sonduriya ". How deep, how serene, how smooth, how charming ! What about " Gamata kalin " Seetha rae yame" he sang @ the super star contest ? He is so young & has just come into the music scene. Give him a few more years, & he will do wonders with his velvet voice. I can listen to his voice for hours without tiring. (which I do every day )

Any one who has seen him perform live @ the 3 in 1 show will know the appreciation & cheers he gets from the crowd.

What talent @ such a tender age !

  • Once again, people are forgetting the golden voice of Victor Rathnayake. WD Ariyasinghe is not that popular, but has possibly the best control over his voice. Ivor Dennis is a forgotten entity.

Anduru Kutiya thula, Handunagaththoth oba maa and all songs sung by Sunil Shantha is sung by him today. (Ex. Mihikatha nalawaalaa, lankaa lankaa, walaakulen besa etc)

That is absolute rubbish. Amila is tring to act like Amarasir Peiris. Listen to his own song "Meedum Sela" and judge his own style. He is the best super star, nothing against him in that aspect, but he is far from greatness and the 16 year old one will definietly overtake him in coming years

    Hi

Then how come the 16 yr old is not even in this list ? He is good but can only

sing Raghadarees. His voice is nowhere near Amlia's. All judges @ the sss

    contest were unanimous

that Amila does not imitate anyone, but sings in his own unique voice. Cannot

agree that he is trying to be like Amarasiri Peiris. He only sang his songs for the

contest, just like the other contestants who sang the songs of praveenayas.

As for Victor Ratnayake's golden voice , it is all history now ! He was my

favourite too, in the 60s & 70s when he sang lilting #s like " soka senasum "

    & " pawe wala ". Even " pembara madhu " is enchanting !

But just listen to him today , his voice trembles, & does not sound so sweet as it

    used to be.

Instead of living in the past, I pin my hopes on Amila to become the local Jim

Reeves in the not so distant future. Just go to You Tube & listen to " apatai me

mihithale " the BNS # he sang at the sss final. Such a soothing voice is yet

to emerge in the music scene. Now do u say that he is trying to be like BNS ?

Amila need not try to be like anyone else, because he is himself. The truth is

that nobody else can be like him !

Wal Bado, this is all in good spirit , no offence meant ok ?

If u get the chance go & see amila perform live. I have seen him @ 4 shows.

He gets better by the day. I am such an ardent fan of his , I have collected

almost all of his videos. So I go all out in defence of the boy.

( Look I am no teenager ok )

  • You said not to live in past. Let's not live in future as well. Amila is not the greatest at the moment, he may be one of the greats in the future.

And the judge at SSS is total crap. One of my friends was at preliminary rounds and he suung Sunil Edirisinghe's "Nidukaanane". Nirosha said he is not singing to the tune. As well as Rookantha. Jagath kept his mouth shut because my friend was so good. Then my friend challenged Nirosha and Rookantha to sing it better than him live on Sirasa. They never took the challenge!! My friend is a post graduate student of music. That is the quality of the Judges at SSS.
