Hard drive partitioning

How many partitions do you have on your hard drive(s)?

If you create only one partition on your hard drive, what you do have against creating multiple partitions, and wise versa.

i have 9 Partitions...

i have 2 hards one is 120 gb other is 80 gb

Why do you really need that much?

I have only 3 partitions on 2 hard drives (2 on one drive and 1 on the other)

nae machan.. mata hama file ekama mathakai.. anika koheda thiyenne kiyala as deka wahagena yanna puluwann... echcharata matakai..

ive got 2 HD's
80GB- partioned equally into 2
20GB- partioned equally into 2

The more partions u hav the less utiliation of yoiur HD space. But the less partions u hav the more cumbersome it becomes to find files.

My setups is,
C:\ == SYSTEM
D:\ == Data
E:\ == Backup
This way, it doesn't waste space.

Unless you know where you put them, having more partitions wouldn't make things easier. Folders are there for that.

anusha.. just tlel me.. is partition is so important to save hard disc space. in the above thread u said im waisting space.. can u explain that to me. please

You are not physically wasting any disk space. But say you have a 160GB Hard Drive with four 40GB partitions. Say, all partitions have only 3GB space left. So, you have 12GB, but only 3GB contiguous space. Say you want to copy a DVD for encoding to DivX. But you can't, because you can't find contiguous space to copy the DVD to. You have 12GB, but it's wasted. If you had 40GB and 120GB partitions, you would have 9GB left on the 120GB. See?

hmmm i have 3 on ma 80 Gb disk
C for XP(20)
D for everythn and(40)
E for Dloads(16.3) due to some bad sectors
