Iraq: Kurdish girl stoned to death, mob films it on cameraphones

Cellphone videos that depict a teenage girl being stoned to death by a crowd surfaced online last week. Statements on the Kurdish website jebar.info claim the incident took place in Mosul, Iraq, and that the girl was Du'a Khalil Aswad, a 17-year old Kurd who was being killed for having had a relationship with a Sunni Muslim boy in a nearby town. These same online accounts indicate that some of the same members of the crowd who were stoning her to death were simultaneously documenting the act on their mobile phones:

In a short mobile video clip which appears to have been taken by locals at seen of the murder, the girl is seen being ambushed on her way home by a group of up to 1000 men who were waiting for her to return; the men killed her in the most brutal way possible, by throwing large stones on her head. The following clips show that while she is alive and crying for help she is taunted and kicked in her stomach until someone finishes her off by throwing a large stone on her face.

From the clips it appears that the girl was first stripped naked to symbolize that she had dishonored her family and her Yezidi religion. She is lying on the road naked while her smashed face is covered with blood and still breathing.

.3gp video files (warning: contains extremely graphic violence) and account at kurdishaspect.com. I see related reports at Daily Mail and Foxnews.com, but there's nothing online at sources I'd consider more reputable -- so I don't know how reliable the reported details of this incident are.

According to the online reports that do exist, these phonecam videos were uploaded to YouTube also. But a quick search on YouTube now shows: "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

Related: 30 Iraqis died in a car bomb attack in Iraq today, and more than 600 civilians are reported to have died in the week prior.

Islam is a terrorist religon/culture.

Please do not take my word for it. Instead - just read the Qur an. It is all right there is plain spoken words.

Yes, you can take sentences (out of context) and make it seem like the Qur an is peaceful and Islam is a peaceful religon. However, if you read the book in its entirety - it is very clear that the koran is only about peace after all non-believers of allah are killed.

When politicians say that Islam is a peaceful religon hijaked by terrorists - they are only being poltically correct - hoping not to offend the many secular muslims of this country or elsewhere and not frighten the citizens of the US and of Europe.

The reality is that the 'Prophet" Mohamed himself was a terrorist and according to the Qur an - real muslims are suppose to live their lives by emulating Mohamed.

How is the 'Prophet' Mohamed a terrorist? Let's look at only what the Qur an and the Muslim religon/culture states:

Mohamed beheaded over 600 people (with a sword). Each person's whose head he cut off was done because they refused to accept allah as the one true god.

He threatened to cut off the heads, hands, and feet of every person on earth that does not accept allah as the one true god.

He instructed every muslim to never have a treaty for peace with non-muslims. Instead, if they are in a position to not conquer, they may have a cease fire for no more then 10 years. During the ten years they must build in strength so as soon as they are able - they must kill by beheading the infideles (non-believers in allah).

He instructed to lie to infideles as a way to build their trust while plotting to kill them. (Lying is not only acceptable behavior is Islam - it is a mandory methodology of the religon if you are not in a position to either convert or kill non-believers).

According to the Quar an - allah may change his mind at times and his latest writing is what is not correct (the Quar an gets progressively more violent). A true muslim must carry out the lifestyle and teaching of the prophet mohamend (a terrorist).

I could cite more and more examples - but I think these are enough to state my position.

Please - I encourage everyone - DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! Just read the Qur an - it is all very clear. How you are suppose to lie and kill and not have peace. Peace (while an important long term goal of Islam) - is only to be had after all people accept allah as the one true god. Until then - it is the duty of every real muslim to first give the non-believer the opportunity to accept allah and if they don't - cut off their head (please refer to the many constant beheadings in the middle east for examples). If you are killed in the process, that is ok - it is the highest form of death and you will be rewarded for being a mayr in the afterlife.

Fact: Right now in the middle east their is no shortage of people wanting to blow themsleves up for the sake of jihad. The problem is they don't have enough explosives to go around for the many children and adults who wish to blow themselves up.

Four arrested in Iraq 'honor killing'

• Four arrested in "honor killing" in northern Iraq
• Two suspects were members of girl's family
• The 17-year-old was dragged from home and stoned to death

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (CNN) -- Authorities in northern Iraq have arrested four people in connection with the "honor killing" last month of a Kurdish teen -- a startling, morbid pummeling caught on a mobile phone video camera and broadcast around the world.

The case highlights the tragedy and brutality of honor killings -- where family members kill relatives, almost always female, because they feel the relatives' actions have shamed the family.

In this case, Dua Khalil, a 17-year-old Kurdish girl whose religion is Yazidi, was dragged into a crowd in a headlock with police looking on and kicked, beaten and stoned to death last month. (Watch the attack, and what authorities are doing about itVideo)

Authorities believe she was killed for being seen with a Sunni Muslim man. She had not married him or converted, but her attackers believed she had, a top official in Nineveh province said. The Yazidis, who observe an ancient Middle Eastern religion, look down on mixing with people of another faith.

Each year, dozens of honor killings are reported in Iraq and thousands are reported worldwide, said the United Nations. The practice has been condemned around the world by governments and human rights groups. A yearly vigil protesting honor killings is held in London, England.

Two of the four arrested are members of the victim's family, police in Nineveh province said Thursday. Four others, including a cousin thought to have instigated the killing, are being sought.

The killing is said to have spurred the killings of about two dozen Yazidi men by Sunni Muslims in the Mosul area two weeks later. Attackers affiliated with al Qaeda pulled 24 Yazidi men out of a bus and slaughtered them, a provincial official said.

The violence ratcheted up tensions between Yazids and Muslims in Bashiqa, the victim's hometown, a largely Yazidi city in Nineveh province.

Provincial officials don't think much could have been done to stop the honor killing, but at least three officers are being investigated and could be fired.

"The climate, the religious and social climate is such that people can do that in daylight and that authorities do not intervene," said the spokeswoman for the Organization of Womens' Freedom in Iraq, Houzan Mahmoud.

Also, the top police official in Bashiqa is being replaced.
